What is Mobile Device Management (and why your business needs it)

Super Admin · 12 Aug 2026
If your organisation hands out phones or tablets to staff — delivery riders, field agents, shop floors, schools — you already know the headaches. Devices go missing. Someone installs a game instead of doing their round. A phone with customer data walks out the door. Mobile Device Management (MDM) is how you take back control. In simple terms, it lets you manage every company device from one screen: what apps they can run, what settings are locked, where they are allowed to be used, and what happens if one is lost. What MDM gives you: - Enrollment: bring a device under management by scanning a QR code. No cables, no manual setup. - Policies: decide what each device can and cannot do — camera, Bluetooth, app installs, factory reset — and push it instantly. - Lock-down (kiosk): turn a device into a single-purpose tool so staff can only use the one app they need. - Reporting: see which devices are online, compliant, and up to date. - Kill switch: lock or wipe a lost device remotely so your data never leaks. MDM is not about spying on staff — it is about protecting company property and the data on it, and making a fleet of devices behave predictably. For most businesses, it pays for itself the first time a lost phone is wiped instead of leaked.
